Retail Ergonomics (OLT) | Ergonomics is the science of designing and arranging things so that people can use them easily and safely. Poorly-arranged work areas where people have to bend or overextend limbs and body parts can result in musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which affect 1.8 million U.S. workers every year. Employees that take this course will learn how to identify ergonomic risk factors, potential injuries, and methods to minimize or eliminate ergonomic hazards. This course is geared specifically towards retail and grocery employees and is designed to help them identify and improve ergonomic conditions in their workplaces. That’s roughly 20% of all serious workplace injuries in the U.S. Fortunately, most of these injuries are preventable with proper safe work practices. ROPE RESCUE TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1 PART A | Rope Rescue Technician Level I is designed to meet the JPRs set in NFPA 1006, 2013 Edition, Chapter 6.1. This course emphasizes the importance of anchor placement and strength as well and proper rigging in order to be safe and efficient. Skills covered are: knots, anchors, belay operations, ascending and descending a fixed rope, mechanical advantage, and raising and lowering systems. Safe Housekeeping for Retail Workers (OLT) | Housekeeping is an important part of working in a retail environment. A cluttered, dirty store can have a negative impact on customer impressions of a store as well as employee morale. Injuries are also more common in stores that aren’t properly cleaned maintained. Having a neat and well-maintained store is important to keeping customers and employees safe. Workers who successfully complete this course should be able to identify ergonomic hazards, slip, trip and fall hazards and chemical hazards that are common in the retail industry. This course is specifically designed for workers in the retail industry and contains examples and scenarios relevant to the retail environment. This course is presented in English and Spanish. | |
